110 Ways to Calm the Crying

Pinky McKay

Pinky McKay author of the popular Parenting by Heart has now written a companion volume for the early years.

Although every child is different, as you get to know your baby you may be desperate to understand why your baby is crying so much of the time and what you should do about it. Each chapter in this new book deals with a different aspect of crying. There are plenty of tips to help a despairing parent and it is easy to find your way to the particular dilemma which is causing you concern, even with a fretful baby in your arms.

I like the tone of Pinky’s books, and certainly recommend this one to any parent. Keep it by your bedside for emergencies! As a grandmother, I am delighted to see that ‘swaddling’ is back in fashion. All my babies were like mummies for the first weeks of their lives!

Here is a quote which gives the tone of 100 ways to calm the crying: ‘As you sit and rock your baby, instead of becoming restless about unfinished "work", look deeply into those trusting navy-blue eyes and ask yourself how much these things would matter if your child were taken from you tomorrow.’No one could say it more clearly than that!
