Seven Secrets of Successful
Parenting
or how to achieve the almost impossible from toddlers
to teens.
Karen Doherty and Georgia Coleridge
I liked the tone of this book from the beginning.
The introduction sets the tone with 'we aren't perfect parents, and our
children aren't perfect children.'
The authors (two mothers who both have four children
each) set out to consider seven clear parenting styles, and this book
helps parents to identify their own natural style.... although the reader
is 'allowed' to borrow techniques from other parental types too.
The mothers I showed my copy to enjoyed identifying
their style of parenting - although one was amused to find she was a
Commando Parent and a Laid-Back Parent. But that is
all part of the fun of this book - easy to read, and to pick out the tips
and strategies which suit you and your family. Again, all the
mothers who read the book spoke of an aha! moment when they identified one
of the areas which worried them - and then found some suggestions how to
move on.
Read it ... you wont regret it.
