Down Syndrome

Edited by Cohen/Nadel/Madnick

This book will be of great interest to anyone wanting to have the latest information about this genetic disorder. The contributors - and the list is very impressive - all work in America but most of what is looked at in detail will apply to the UK as well.

It begins with a chapter by Thomas Nerney. He says in an upbeat way ‘the new century offers the possibility of unparalleled opportunities for individuals with Down Syndrome,' but goes on to say that budgets and finance can still get in the way of funding the latest resources.

This is not a ‘how to’ or ‘self-help’ book, but a serious and comprehensive survey of the clinical, educational, developmental, psycho-social issues relevant to people with Down Syndrome. Down Syndrome covers issues of sexuality, inclusion transition to adulthood and will be of great interest, and help, to parents, professionals and for men and women with Down Syndrome.
